MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)— The Ohio State Highway Patrol Mansfield Post is investigating a series of collisions that disrupted the Tuesday morning commute on Interstate 71.

The incident began at approximately 6:45 a.m. on March 17 near milepost 168. According to state troopers, a gray 2025 Ford F-150 traveling southbound lost control and spun out, striking a gray 2015 Nissan Altima.

The initial collision triggered a chain reaction as trailing motorists attempted to slow down or stop for the wreckage. This resulted in two additional, separate crashes in the immediate vicinity.

Despite the involvement of multiple vehicles, authorities report that only one driver was treated for a possible injury.

The investigation forced the closure of two southbound lanes for several hours. While all lanes have since been reopened to traffic, the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the exact cause of the initial spin-out.
