BUCYRUS — A 14-year-old Mount Gilead boy has become a possible target of the search at the Crawford County landfill Tuesday afternoon, according to a friend of the missing boy’s family.

The woman who said she is “very close to the family,” said the missing boy’s mother said law enforcement officers called her and said video footage was discovered of the boy climbing into a dumpster at a Mount Gilead school.

The family friend said the mother was told by officers that the boy was not seen exiting the dumpster before the garbage truck emptied the unit.

“Now, did that mean the video didn’t skip and miss him getting out? We don’t know,” the family friend said.

The friend then said the mother was told law enforcement officials were going to search the Crawford County landfill.

“He’s definitely missing. That’s about the only information we know for sure,” the friend said.

Law enforcement officials have not confirmed the boy is the target of the search.
