GALION — A motorcyclist died Tuesday afternoon as a result of injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash in rural Galion.
According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, the motorcyclist was flown by medical helicopter from Galion Community Hospital to Grant Medical Center in Columbus where he died.
The injuries were suffered when a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado was northbound on Ohio 598 when it rear-ended a 2008 Harley Davidson Road King, which was also northbound and was slowing or stopped at railroad tracks just south of Crestline Road.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
At this time no names are being released until family members are notified. The crash remains under investigation and no citations or charges have been filed.
Both vehicles were removed from the scene by local tow companies.

GALION — A motorcyclist was transported to the hospital after being struck in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 598 north of Galion on Tuesday morning.
According to initial reports, a motorcyclist was traveling north on Ohio 598 at approximately 10 a.m. on an orange and black Harley-Davidson Road King, when he was reportedly struck from behind while crossing a set of railroad tracks between Valley View Golf Course and Crestline Road by a white Chevy Silverado.
The motorcyclist was forced off the right side of the and came to a stop on the road’s shoulder.

A crew with the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department treated the motorcyclist on scene and personnel with Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service transported the man to Galion Community Hospital. A MedFlight helicopter was radioed to respond to the hospital.
The man was considered to be in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet.
The truck sustained damage to the front-right bumper and tire. The truck’s driver did not suffer any known injuries.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene. Ohio 598 was closed while crews were on the scene.
The matter remains under investigation and more information will be released when it is made available.
