The motorcycle races at the Crawford County Fairgrounds didn’t prove as profitable as last year’s races. According to the expense and income report received at Wednesday’s Fair Board meeting the event finished in the red.

Taking place during a jam packed weekend of events in the county, which also featured the Relay for Life, the Graffiti Cruise, the Hatchery Festival, and the State of the Vision of Crawford 20/20, the motorcycle races lost $1,210. The main gate for the event drew in $5,944 which was down $3,000 from last year.

Sponsorship for the event was also down $900 from the previous year. Expenses for the event increased $1,810 from last year on sound, and the balance of the contract for Steve Nace Racing including trophies.

Beginning in 2016 the Crawford County Fair will have a different layout as the Fair Board approved a measure which restricts all food concession stands to south of the Ride ‘em High horse barn by a 16 to 2 vote Wednesday night.

The Crawford County Fair Board tabled a measure that would place a ban on drones flying over the fairgrounds during activities there. More research will be done on the matter such as what action can be taken, as well as the legalities of issuing a “No Fly Zone” for drones before voting on the measure.

The next Fair Board meeting will be held on July 15.
