GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The City of Galion has announced a proactive measure to control the mosquito population in the area. Weather permitting, mosquito spraying will be conducted on Tuesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 27, both beginning at 4:00 a.m.

The northern half of the city, divided by Harding Way, will be sprayed on Tuesday. The southern half will be sprayed on Thursday, weather permitting. Any changes to the schedule will be announced promptly.

Residents are advised to close their windows and keep children and pets indoors during the spraying. The City of Galion also recommends several measures to eliminate mosquitoes from yards:

  • Empty, remove, cover, or turn over receptacles that can hold water.
  • Clean bird baths twice weekly.
  • Discard old tires or store them indoors.
  • Repair leaky plumbing and outside faucets.
  • Ensure gutters and downspouts are properly draining.
  • Empty pets’ water dishes daily.

In addition, the Galion City Health Department provides free mosquito dunks to the public. These can be placed into areas of stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding. The dunks are available at the Health Department, located at 113 Harding Way East.
