MORROW COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Brian Michael Wilson, 53, pleaded not guilty to all charges in connection with the shooting death of Morrow County Deputy Daniel Sherrer, which occurred last month.

Wilson is facing a total of 14 charges, including two counts of aggravated murder. Prosecutor Andrew Wick has indicated that he will pursue the death penalty if Wilson is convicted.

The incident took place on May 26, when Deputy Sherrer was responding to reports of a domestic situation on County Road 26. It is alleged that Wilson shot the deputy during this response.

Following the arraignment, a judge set Wilson’s bond at $9 million, an increase from the original amount of $5 million. He is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 25.

The charges against Wilson include:

  • Two counts of aggravated murder
  • One count of felony murder
  • Two counts of felonious assault on a peace officer, one with a deadly weapon
  • Two counts of attempted murder and aggravated murder aimed at his brother-in-law
  • Additional charges including felonious assault, domestic violence, unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of criminal tools, and discharging a firearm while intoxicated.

Deputy Sherrer, a four-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was laid to rest at Marion Cemetery a week after his death. He is remembered by his family, including his parents and fiancé.
