CRESTLINE― The Crawford Park District Board of Park Commissioners will be holding their monthly meeting for February on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at 7:30 a.m.  The meeting will be held at the Lowe-Volk Park Nature Center, 2401 State Route 598, Crestline.   For more information, please contact the Park District Office at 419-683-9000.

Bluebird Bonanza: Tuesday, February 19 at 6 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park

The Eastern Bluebird is the coup of backyard nest boxes. Join the Crawford Park District for fun activities and crafts. Joy Etter-Link will lead this program to discover why bluebirds are important and how kids can help them.  For kids 5th grade and younger accompanied by an adult.

Nature Hike: Saturday, February 23 at 3 p.m. at Heckert Nature Preserve, 1601 State Route 19

Meet Crawford Park District Naturalist Warren Uxley at Heckert Nature Preserve to see what this year’s season of transition will bring. By late February, winter is starting to loosen its grip. Winter bird flocks are breaking up and the first courtship calls can be heard. Warm days can bring out over-wintering butterflies. Heckert Nature Preserve is located at 1601 State Route 19 west of State Route 602.

Night Sky: Saturday, February 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park

The Crawford Park District invites you to join members of the Crawford Park Astronomy Club as they share their knowledge and telescope skills with all who are interested in the celestial sights. Targets for the fall months will include: m-42 is a great nebula in Orion, m-31 the Andromeda Galaxy, Hyades is an open cluster of stars and the Moon. The universe is an astronomical sight!

Toddler Trot: Tracks: Tuesday, February 26 at 5 p.m. at Heckert Nature Preserve, 1601 State Route 19

With snow on the ground or mud left from melting snow, tracks are easy to find.  Join Josh and McKinley from the Crawford Park District to explore the wetland and woods of Heckert in search of animal tracks and other signs they leave behind. For kids not quite in school and younger. Heckert Nature Preserve is located at 1601 State Route 19 west of State Route 602.

Great Lakes: Thursday, February 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 State Route 598

Can you rank the Great Lakes in size? Or do you know how long it takes for the water to cycle through?  The Crawford Park invites you to come out to learn all about the Great Lakes! There will be several hands-on activities to reinforce the significance of the lakes. All ages are welcome. Lowe-Volk Park is located three miles north of US Route 30.
