BUCYRUS—If you’re not yet registered to vote, you can still register through Monday. Early voting in Crawford County will begin on Tuesday.
Voters will not be able to cast early votes for the 87th House and the state central committeewoman and man. Those votes are stalled because of conflicts over redistricting. With May 3rd off the table for Legislative candidates, judges are now weighing options for a new primary date.
Crawford County Republicans will be able to choose from incumbent Commissioner Tim Ley who is being challenged by Corey Orweiler and Dale Wolfe.
All county registered voters will decide on issues including:
The renewal of the Crawford Park District Levy was first passed in 2012.
In Bucyrus Precinct 1A, voters will consider allowing the sale of wine and mixed beverages from 10 a.m. to midnight on Sundays by Aldi, 1885 E. Mansfield St.
Voters who previously cast ballots in the gymnasium of the old Colonel Crawford high school will now do so in the K-12 Cafeteria.

In election-related news, two complaints were filed against Kurt Fankhauser, a former president of Bucyrus City Council and a central committee candidate in Bucyrus Ward 2A. One was filed by Mark Makeever, a Republican and at-large member of Bucyrus City Council, and one by Steve Pifer, a Democrat, and former council member.
They are challenging Fankhauser’s right to vote, with one accuser telling the board they have proof that Fankhauser does not actually live at the address on Prospect St. That he has provided to the board.
According to information provided on. the Ohio Secretary of State’s website, a residence must be considered “a permanent, not a temporary, residence” and “the place where your habitation is fixed and where, whenever you are absent, you intend to return.”
The board will have a meeting on Wednesday to review the challenges to Fankhauser’s actual residency.
If the board determines that Fankhauser does not reside at the address he has listed, not only could his voter registration be canceled, he could be charged with the crime of election falsification.
These ongoing conflicts could interrupt Fankhauser’s bid for a spot in the Republican Central Committee Race in Ward 2A, where he is facing off against incumbent Sis Love.
Crawford County Now will continue to follow this developing story.
