CRESTLINE — Joy Miley presided over her last council meeting as mayor on Monday evening.
Miley thanked the citizens of Crestline, the village administration and village council members for their support during the months she has been in the position. As council president, Miley was the next in line for the mayoral position after Allen Moore resigned when a video of him using racial slurs was released to the public.
“I thank everyone for their support. We have made tremendous strides,” Miley said.
She said she looks forward to seeing many projects through when she takes back her seat on council in January.
Mayor-elect Linda Horning Pitt will be sworn-in to the position on Dec 30.
Mike Stuckman came to the meeting to thank Miley, along with village administrator John Rostash, solicitor Rob Ratliff and council for the hard work involved in straightening out an issue with a piece of property that was sold by Crestline to the Valley View Golf Course Inc.
“We purchased the land in 1994 and have been paying taxes on it for 25 years yet it was never recorded,” Stuckman said.
The village administers will able to track down the missing records and the council passed a resolution to allow Rostash to issue and sign a quitclaim deed in favor of the golf course.
During the meeting, council also passed the confirmation of Kirk Hemphill as a full-time licensed operator class one with the village service department and the permanent appropriations for the first quarter of 2020.
During his report to council, Rostash said Buckeye Excavating is installing the new water main line on Main Street with localized detour occurring while the work is being completed. He said citizens will be kept informed on the village’s website and on the Facebook page.
He also said a new high service pump has been installed at the water treatment plant which will aide in the prevention of rust issues in the village’s water supply.
Newly elected officials will be sworn-in to their new position Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. at the Village Administration building.
