MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Educators in Crawford, Morrow, and Richland counties will have the chance to participate in summer “Teacher Boot Camps” focusing on manufacturing and technology, the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center announced Monday.
The programs, organized by the center’s Business Advisory Council in collaboration with workforce development partners, aim to give teachers firsthand experience with local careers and the skills students need to succeed.
Crawford County’s Manufacturing Boot Camp is scheduled for May 21, June 10-12, and June 18. Morrow County’s Manufacturing Boot Camp will take place May 19, June 10-12, and June 16. Richland County’s Technology Boot Camp is set for May 20, June 10-12, and June 23.
Each boot camp includes an orientation, business tours, and teacher project presentations.
Participants can earn three graduate credits from Ashland University for a reduced out-of-pocket cost, develop a project/unit for use in their classrooms, and receive instruction from business professionals and education specialists.
“Teachers are inherently our best career readiness advisors,” said Amy Wood, Mid-Ohio ESC’s Director of Grants and Special Projects. “Teacher Bootcamps are a meaningful way for teachers to enhance their understanding of the current landscape of local and regional career opportunities, and then use that knowledge to better integrate career-connected learning into their classrooms.”
The deadline to apply is April 25, with limited spots available. Core content and special area middle and high school teachers, school counselors, and career coaches are eligible to apply.
