A stay in prison seemed to be the solution for a few repeat offenders in Crawford County Common Pleas Court Monday morning.
Thirty-one-year-old Marcus Jamar Lewis of Inkster, Mich., will be serving a total of 48 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to two charges.
Lewis admitted to possessing cocaine on March 14 as well as conveying heroin onto the grounds of a detention facility on the same day.
Lewis was sentenced to 12 months on the drug possession charge, which will be served consecutively to his 36-month prison sentence for the illegal conveyance, for a total of 48 months. Lewis was granted jail time credit in the amount of 81 days. He could receive judicial release after six months.
Lewis will have to undergo a drug and alcohol assessment and any follow-up treatment. He must also pay a $1,250 mandatory drug fine and forfeit any property being held by the Crestline Police Department. His license was also suspended for six months.
Thirty-six-year-old Nathan Adams of Galion will be serving time on not only a new charge but also a few older ones. Adams pleaded guilty to a felony five breaking and entering charge and was sentenced to nine months in prison.
With that sentence hanging over his head, Adams also had to face his community control violations on two other cases. He admitted to resisting lawful arrest by the Galion Police Department and was charged with obstruction of justice on March 18. Adams also tested positive for opiates and cocaine on March 20.
Those actions violated his community control agreement on a 2011 burglary case. Adams was ordered to serve four years in prison on the case, which will be served concurrently on a 2011 breaking and entering case. His violations netted him a 12 month sentence in that case.
The violation sentences will be served concurrently with each other but consecutively on the new breaking and entering case. Adams received jail credit for a total of 170 days. He was also fined $750 and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2,000 to the victim.
Twenty-five-year-old Jesse Melba of Galion will be returning to prison after violating his community control. Melba had been placed on community control in 2013 after pleading guilty to drug possession. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison for the probation violations.
Thirty-year-old Glen Ramsey of Bucyrus entered a guilty plea for drug possession Monday morning in preparation for his intervention program. Ramsey had been in possession of Suboxone on March 25. The guilty plea will be held until Ramsey successfully completes his two-year intervention program.
