BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The family-owned Mexican restaurant continues to grow while offering handcrafted dishes, signature margaritas, and a welcoming space for the Bucyrus community.
Mi Cerrito Mexican Restaurant has expanded its presence in Bucyrus, bringing an upgraded dining experience that highlights authentic flavors, space for large gatherings, and a strong commitment to the local community.
After finding success with its locations in Crestline and Galion, the owners saw opportunity in the former Dillinger’s event center. The space offered something special — room to grow and the ability to create a welcoming environment for big groups and family celebrations.
One of the standout additions to the location is the guacamole and ceviche bar placed in the center of the dining room. The team sees this as a way to bring fresh, made-to-order items directly to guests while adding a unique feature that enhances the overall experience. They also look forward to opening the outdoor patio once warmer weather arrives, giving customers another space to gather and enjoy their meals.
Built on Family & Tradition
Mi Cerrito first started in downtown Delaware, Ohio, later expanding through a partnership and merger with another Mexican restaurant group around 2016. Pedro, the original owner of the Delaware location, brought authentic family recipes to the foundation of the brand.
When the teams came together, they combined traditional recipes with a more modern and creative approach to food. As expansion continued — including growth into Crestline with local support from Joe Dzugan — the business remained fully family-owned and hands-on across its four locations.
The owners are grateful for the support that helped establish and strengthen their presence throughout the region.
A Smooth Opening After a Big Transformation
Opening the Bucyrus location required a complete remodel. The space received fresh paint, new flooring, updated restrooms, and décor imported from Mexico to preserve its authentic feel.
While receiving furniture and décor took time, the location officially opened after careful preparation. The first few weeks brought the typical challenges of a new space as staff adjusted to guest traffic and daily operations. Today, the restaurant runs smoothly with a fully staffed team and strong feedback from customers who praise both the food and service.
Popular Dishes & Guest Favorites
One of the most popular highlights on the menu is the signature gourmet taco selection. Guests can choose from options like carne asada, jumbo shrimp, marinated chicken, Mexican cheesesteak, birria, carnitas, ribeye, and more.
Many of these specialty tacos are unique to the area and set Mi Cerrito apart from other local Mexican restaurants. Everything is prepared fresh from scratch, with a strong focus on quality ingredients and consistent flavor.
First-time visitors are often encouraged to try the fresh table-side guacamole or shrimp ceviche. Handcrafted margaritas — made with premium tequila, fresh lime, orange, and fruit — are also a favorite recommendation.
Popular entrée options include crab enchiladas, shrimp tacos, seafood molcajete (featuring fish, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and scallops), along with traditional dishes like queso chicken with rice, chimichangas, and fajitas.
Looking Ahead
While the focus remains on improving and strengthening current locations, the team continues to explore new menu ideas and updates — including refreshing the drink menu.
One of the most anticipated additions is the outdoor patio experience, where guests will be able to enjoy warm weather, great food, and signature margaritas together.
Mi Cerrito continues to grow while staying rooted in family ownership, authentic recipes, and community connection.
