The Village of Crestline will have a new mayor who is a familiar name as former village fiscal officer Gloria McDonald was elected from a field of four.
McDonald finished with 373 votes Tuesday night with former Crestline Police Chief Gerald Dowell finishing in second with 325 votes.
McDonald explained that as the mayor-elect for Crestline that there are some issues that need to be tackled.
“With the issue that has come up recently I need to work with the Police Department to get that taken care of,” McDonald said. “We also have the budget issue, but the big thing will be hearing back from the State Auditor’s Office before we move forward with that.”
Council member Gene Toy finished third in the race with 292 votes. John Mills finished fourth securing 120 votes.
McDonald explained that during her term as mayor she wants to see the community of Crestline get involved more, as well as push Crestline to a better place than in the recent past.
“I want the community to get involved more,” McDonald said. “I want more people to come to the council meetings to discuss the issues of the village. I don’t think we will ever be able to go back to what we once were, but I want to get things to be better than what they are. I want to see Crestline maximize its potential.”
Two seats for Crestline Village Council were also up for election Tuesday. Incumbents Allen Moore and Tina Swartz had no other candidates running against them.
