MARION–The MARMET Drug Task Force, in collaboration with the Drug Task Forces from the METRICH region, will come together for a day of community outreach known as BRIDGE Day (Bridging Recovery Interdiction Data Gathering Enforcement).
As part of this statewide initiative, the MARMET Drug Task Force has announced that it will host a one-day Drug Take Back event aimed at collecting and reducing the amount of unwanted prescription pills on July 19, 2023. The Drug Take Back program has proven successful in the past, with MARMET participating twice a year, resulting in hundreds of pounds of prescription medication being safely removed from circulation in Marion County.
This year’s event will be held in partnership with the Center Street Community Health Center and their pharmacy. On the designated day, Center Street Community Health Center employees and MARMET detectives will be present at the City Hall Parking Lot located at 233 W Center Street in Marion, Ohio. They will collect over-the-counter pills, prescription pills, and pill bottles from community members who wish to dispose of them properly. In addition to collecting medication, the event will also serve as an opportunity to distribute important community outreach information.
The Drug Take Back event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing ample time for individuals to drop off their unwanted prescription pills. However, it’s important to note that the event will not accept syringes, creams, or liquids.
