MARION—The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on May 13, 2023, at approximately 7:51 PM, on State Route 95 in Montgomery Township, Marion County.
According to reports, the crash involved a 2016 Subaru WRX driven by Johnny Arthur II, age 32, of LaRue, Ohio. The initial investigation suggests that Arthur was traveling westbound on State Route 95 when a black BMW sport utility vehicle attempted to pass the Subaru. Witnesses reported that the BMW swerved into the westbound lane as an eastbound vehicle approached, causing Mr. Arthur to veer off the road.
Mr. Arthur’s vehicle then collided with a driveway embankment and a house before overturning and striking a parked vehicle and a tree. During the crash, Arthur was ejected from the Subaru. The black BMW did not remain at the scene.
As a result of the crash, Arthur sustained serious injuries and was transported by Scioto Valley EMS to Marion General Hospital. He was later transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, for further treatment.
Preliminary evidence suggests that there was contact between the black BMW sport utility vehicle and the Subaru, with damage visible on the right side of the BMW. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is urging anyone with information regarding the investigation to contact them at (740) 383-2181.
Assisting on the scene were the Scioto Valley Fire and EMS, Northern Union County Fire and EMS, Red Cross, and Kirby’s Towing.
The crash remains under investigation.
