MARION—On Tuesday evening, Lane Warner, the Superintendent of Elgin Local Schools, issued a statement addressing an incident involving a substitute teacher at the middle school.
According to Warner, “It has been alleged that the staff member in question was viewing inappropriate adult content on a personal electronic device while in the vicinity of students.” He clarified that the students were engaged in independent work and were not directly exposed to the content. However, a few students accidentally witnessed some activity and promptly reported it to the staff.
Currently, the administration is conducting an internal investigation, and the substitute teacher has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending further inquiry.
