MARION – On Saturday at 5:14 PM, Marion Police Officers responded to a report of two deceased individuals found by a family member in the garage of a home located in the 1200 block of East Center Street in Marion.
The deceased persons were determined to be a married couple who were also residents of the home. Marion Police Department Investigators, working in conjunction with the Marion County Coroner’s Office conducted an investigation at the scene and identified the deceased as Amy Berry, age 42, and Max Berry, age 44.
“This is a horrible tragedy in every conceivable way”, said Major Jeff Clewell, Commander of the MPD Criminal Investigations Division. “While this investigation is still in its’ infancy, the early details suggest that this incident was the result of a murder/suicide with Amy Berry being the victim of a homicide”.
The bodies of Amy and Max Berry have been transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office where autopsies will be conducted. Based on those findings, an official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Marion County Coroner’s Office.
Pending the outcome of the medical examinations, no further details are available for release at this time. Marion Police Investigators continue to work this investigation in close coordination with death investigators from the Marion County and Lucas County Coroner’s Offices.
