MARION—The Marion Police Department was recently named the March 2022 “Agency of the Month” by the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police and the Law Enforcement Foundation.
“There are about 900 law enforcement agencies in the State of Ohio and to be recognized by the Ohio’s Chiefs of Police as being one of the best for community policing is quite an honor. It really is a testament to the great work being done by all of the officers and civilian employees at the Marion Police Department and the #MPACT they make in our community each day” Marion Police Chief Jay McDonald said. “Every single one of the officers at the Marion Police Department knows how important the relationship is between the department and the community. That is why we offer so many different ways for our officers to have positive interactions with the community, in both formal and informal ways” McDonald said.
Mayor Scott Schertzer said, “Our Police Department and their engagement in the community is something that the City of Marion is very proud of. MPD has been innovative in their outreach programs and I am very thankful for how our officers work at being connected to this community. I am extremely supportive of our police department, and I have been my entire time in municipal government because I know how hard our officers work to keep Marion safe and how much they care for our community.”
