MARION—A water pipe and eight air conditioning units have burst due to the freezing temperatures at the historic Marion County Courthouse, located at 100 North Main St, in downtown Marion, Ohio.
As a result, we are in the process of cleaning up two inches of standing water on the first and second floors of the building, as well as significant water damage on the 3rd and fourth floors.
Regrettably, this has necessitated the closure of the building today and for the rest of this week.
It remains to be seen when I will be able to safely open the courthouse to the public or whether it will be necessary to establish a temporary courthouse location.
In the meantime, the probation department will operate remotely just as they did during the early days of the COVID pandemic.
Those on Pretrial Release and Community Control Sanction will continue to be monitored and expected to comply with the conditions of their supervision. Court staff will also be working remotely to the extent possible.
My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause the public.
E-filing is available during this time.
Judge Warren T. Edwards
Administrative Judge of the Marion County Court of Common Pleas, General Division
