GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Marion County Grand Jury has issued an indictment against 77-year-old Bobby Joe Endicott, a resident of Galion, Ohio, on serious charges including one count of Rape and seven counts of Gross Sexual Imposition, all classified as felony sexual assaults.
This case is particularly alarming as the current victims are the third generation from Endicott’s family to be targeted.
Endicott’s troubling history dates back several decades. In 2003, he was convicted for sexually assaulting the mother of his current victims, and in 1982, he faced similar charges for assaulting their grandmother.
“This is an extraordinary case,” stated Marion County Prosecutor Ray Grogan. “I’ve prosecuted many child sex predators in my career, but I’ve never encountered one who has assaulted three generations of victims in his own family.”
The recent indictment arose from an investigation led by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, which uncovered details of continued sexual abuse perpetrated by Endicott against his current victims.
In court proceedings this week, Endicott appeared before Judge Todd Anderson, who set a cash or surety bond at $350,000. Endicott is currently incarcerated, and the judge has mandated that he have no contact with the alleged victims.
Grogan emphasized that Endicott’s previous convictions occurred long before the current judicial and prosecutorial team assumed office. “The laws at the time these cases were handled were not as robust as we have now,” he remarked.
The indictment carries severe penalties: the first-degree felony Rape charge could lead to a life sentence, while the three third-degree felony counts of Gross Sexual Imposition could each add up to five years in prison. Additionally, three fourth-degree felony charges could result in sentences of up to 18 months each.
Endicott was previously sentenced to 3-10 years for the 1982 conviction and four years for the 2003 conviction.
In compliance with state victims’ privacy laws, Grogan will not disclose the names of the victims outside of court. It is essential to note that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
