Marion County- Troopers from the Marion Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash involving a Galion woman.
The crash occurred on Sunday, August 16 at approximately 11:10PM on State Route 309 west of milepost 25 in Claridon Township in Marion County. The crash involved a 2003 Honda CR-V, driven by Zachary T. Beeney, age 22, of Marion, and a 2008 Mercury Mariner, driven by Aileen Hunt, age 60, of Galion. Ms. Hunt was traveling eastbound on State Route 309. Mr. Beeney was traveling westbound on State Route 309, drove left of the centerline into the eastbound lane and struck the Mercury Mariner head on.
Mr. Beeney was transported to Marion General Hospital and then flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased by Franklin County Coroner Dr. Kelly Sandberg. Ms. Hunt was transported to Marion General Hospital and then flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
