BUCYRUS — It’s time for Crawford County Fair again, the best time of the year according to Senior Fair Board President Roger Auck. The Fair is set to take place from Sunday, July 15 through Saturday, July 21, with a schedule filled with fun for the whole family.

Set to kick-off the fair Sunday morning at 9 a.m. is the Fifth Annual Crawford County Fair 5K Stampede/Walk hosted by Liberty Leaders 4-H Club. Further information regarding registration and race details can be found here.

Along with the many traditions such as the 5k Stampede/walk, Auck was excited to announce that some new additions have been made as well.

To provide entertainment from Monday through Friday of the fair, an illusionist show properly titled Grand Illusions, will be replacing the circus performance that has taken place the last few years.

The times that Grand Illusions will take place is TBA, but the location will be a stage near the South entrance.

The Calf Scramble will be making it’s second appearance to the fair this year. The Calf Scramble is a free event that will take place in front of the grandstand Monday evening at 7 p.m.

Anyone ages 15 and above interested in giving their best shot at catching and correctly haltering a calf has the opportunity to win cash prizes. Those 14 years and under can participate in the chicken and sheep scramble with prizes up for grabs as well.

Registration costs $10 and can be completed in the fair secretary’s office or on the fair website at www.crawfordcofair.com.

A plethora of Jr. Fair and Sr. Fair livestock shows will be taking place Sunday through Friday. The entertainment line-up for evenings in the Grandstand is also filled and ready to bring memories and smiles.

Among the line-up is a free concert by Levi Riggs on Tuesday at 7:30. Several evenings of horse racing and truck and tractor pulls are taking place as well. According to Auck, the Friday evening state-sanctioned truck and tractor pull and the Saturday evening demolition derby are the only grandstand events that cost for admission this year.

No matter the schedule for the day, Auck the fair atmosphere along should help foster moments for memories to be made. When asking Auck what has kept him passionate about the Crawford County Fair for so many years, he was quick to reply that it is not just one thing.

“It’s a tradition over years of families showing livestock, and Department 1 stuff… everything. Just to come back and (reminisce on) memories. Sometimes that’s the only time people see each other maybe is at the fair… it’s just fun to see all of that take place,” Auck expressed.
