GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Last Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, the Galion-Crestline Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Manufacturing Breakfast. The event celebrated local manufacturing businesses, which are vital to the community by driving economic growth, creating job opportunities, and supporting local initiatives through sponsorships, donations, development projects, and events.

The morning began with Mike Tinkey, President of Eagle Crusher Company, who highlighted the success of their internal leadership program. Tinkey emphasized that focusing on employee success has boosted productivity and increased employee retention.

Jeran Pollock, VP of Sales at Elliott Machine Works, followed with insights on the company’s growth and development. Pollock discussed the impact of their new expansion project on both the company and the community.

Dr. Ana Brown from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) was the final speaker. Dr. Brown introduced the “Better You, Better Ohio” program, a free, voluntary initiative aimed at improving the health and well-being of Ohio workers and reducing workplace injuries.

The event also featured the presentation of the “Service in Manufacturing Awards.” Carter Machine honored Brian Rinehart for his unwavering commitment and remarkable contributions, and Wayne Fryer for his vast knowledge and versatility. Elliott Machine Works recognized Elcie Robinette for her vital roles in managing various aspects of the company, and Jim Cross for his 45 years of excellent service. Tramec Sloan awarded Paige Hendershot for her dedication and exceptional work ethic, and Rachel Enke for her leadership and ability to rise to new challenges. Eagle Crusher celebrated Jeff Cullen for his outstanding commitment to customers and leadership over 28 years. Urban Industries recognized Joe Borders for his 38 years of service, describing him as “the glue that holds the shop together.”

A special thank you was extended to the event sponsors: Avita Health System, Huntington National Bank, J&F Construction, Park National Bank, and Anthem Blue Cross. Appreciation was also given to Galion Grace Point for hosting the event, The Hub for providing linens, and all the businesses that contributed to the goodie bags. The support of Chamber Board Members and Chamber Ambassadors was crucial to the event’s success.
