MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Due to potential security concerns, all Mansfield City Schools in Mansfield, Ohio, will be closed on Friday. Additionally, a playoff game that was scheduled to take place at Arlin Field has been relocated. The closure and relocation were announced by the district’s communications department. Superintendent Stan Jefferson sent out an automated alert at around 5:30 p.m., initially announcing the closure of the middle and high school. A subsequent message was sent out less than two hours later, informing families that all buildings would be closed. The reason for the closure was cited as a potential security concern, although no further details were provided. Superintendent Jefferson stated that the safety and security of students and staff is the district’s top priority and that a thorough investigation is being conducted in collaboration with the Mansfield Police Department. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The playoff game that was scheduled to take place at Arlin Field has been moved to Rocky River High School. All tickets will still be honored and can be purchased online or at the gate.
