The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an accident that resulted in the death of a Mansfield man.

Sheriff Scott Kent and three deputies responded to the intersection of Monnett – New Winchester Rd. at State Route 100 for a two-vehicle crash at 6:12 Monday morning. According to the Sheriff’s Office, preliminary investigation from the scene indicates that 40-year-old Kevin Buchanan of Galion had been traveling northbound on SR 100 while pulling a trailer with his 2000 Ford F-250. Twenty-three-year-old William P. Noble, Jr. of Mansfield had been traveling westbound on Monnett – New Winchester Rd. Noble failed to yield right-of-way at the intersection. Buchanan’s truck struck Noble’s 2007 Chevy Cobalt in the driver’s side and both vehicles went off the northwest side of the intersection into a planted field before coming to a rest.

Med Flight was dispatched to the scene and Buchanan was flown to OSU Hospital in Columbus. Noble had been pronounced deceased at the scene.

Assisting at the scene were Whetstone Township Volunteer Fire Department, Lifestar Ambulance, Crawford County Coroner Michael Johnson, and Knecht’s Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
