MARION—Marion County Sheriff Matt Bayles is thanking the community for its quick response to his plea for their assistance to apprehend a Mansfield man after he attempted to entice a child at the Marion Walmart on Tuesday morning.

Jonah Kigge, 26, of Mansfield, was taken into custody after he was identified thanks to tips from the public.

The incident occurred at around 9 am yesterday in the parking lot of the store located on Marion-Mt. Gilead Road.

The alleged victim was an 11-year-old boy whose mother told deputies a black male in his late 20s or 30s tried to get her son to leave the store with him.

Marion County Sheriff Matt Bayles issued a press release on Facebook with security footage showing Kigge allegedly lurking around the store. There was no actual contact between Kigge and the alleged victim.

Kigge is currently on probation out of the Marion Municipal Court. Court records indicate conditions of his probation include no-contact orders and staying away from the OSU campus in Marion.

Kigge is currently in custody at the Multi-County Jail in Marion.
