After burglarizing the home of a family member, a man will spend the next two and one-half years calling prison home.
Anthony Pfeifer was sentenced to 30 months in prison by Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold following his guilty plea to third-degree felony burglary.
“I’ve been battling addiction for a while,” the 37-year-old Pfeifer told the court when given an opportunity to speak during the sentencing portion of Tuesday’s hearing. “I hope this will help me take care of it.”
Pfiefer was on probation in another case at the time of the incident and that probation will be terminated unsuccessfully. He was also fined $1,000 and assessed costs.
The maximum sentence for the charge Pfeifer pleaded guilty to is 36 months in prison and a $10,000 fine. That charge was amended from first-degree aggravated robbery which carries a maximum sentence of 11 years in prison and a $20,000 fine
“What do they say? This judge don’t play and that’s the case,” Leuthold said in addressing Pfeifer’s history of legal issues.
Pfeifer was sentenced to prison in a 2007 case following his conviction for felonious assault and falsification.
Leuthold noted that in spite of being sent to prison, the defendant wasn’t a lost cause.
“You will still be a young man when you get out. You are going to have time to get your act together.”
