In 2014 a Crestline man caught a break in Crawford County Common Pleas Court. In 2016 he failed to take advantage of it. Jeremiah Carroll had a four-year prison sentence re-imposed after the 29-year-old Crestline man admitted to violating the terms of his community control.
Carroll pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of aggravated robbery, a second-degree felony, in 2014 and received a four-year prison sentence. He was placed on community control in October of 2014 after serving nearly ten months in prison.
Though he was facing multiple probation violations, Carroll only admitted to failing to report to his supervising officer since Sept. 30, 2015. The prosecutor’s office dismissed the other violations, which included two firearms violations and three misdemeanor convictions.
Judge Sean Leuthold re-imposed Carroll’s four-year prison sentence, though Carroll will receive credit for time already served.
“In a lot of ways you’re a lucky man,” Leuthold said. “In no way would I have given you four years. I would have given you eight.”
Judge Russell Wiseman was the one to preside over Carroll’s change of plea in 2014.
