BUCYRUS — A Mount Gilead man appeared in Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday to plead guilty a charge of failure to comply.

Justin Stacy, 23, faced possible punishment of up to three years in prison for the third-degree felony.

In a plea negotiation, Stacy was placed on five years of community control. If he fails to complete community control, he could then be sentenced to up to three years in prison.

Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold also issued a 10-year driver’s license suspension on Stacy. The plea originally called for a lifetime license suspension, but Leuthold decided, based on Stacy’s age, he would change it to 10 years.

“You have to behave. If you fail at community control you can go to prison for three years,” Leuthold said.

In other court action, Brandon Sharp, 29, of Grafton appeared for a judicial release hearing. Sharp was sentenced to prison in November 2018 after he failed to complete community control. Sharp was given 54 months in prison on the three counts of trafficking in drugs, each fourth-degree felonies and each punishable with up to 18 months in prison.

As part of a plea agreement, Sharp will now be sent to a community-based correctional facility to complete a treatment program. Upon completion of the program, he will be returned to community control. Leuthold ordered Sharp held at the Crawford County Jail until a bed becomes available at the Tiffin facility.

Dakota Hammond, 28, of Lexington pleaded guilty to one count of theft, a third-degree felony punishable with up to three years in prison and one count of theft, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison.

In a plea negotiation, Hammond will spend the next five years on community control. He was ordered to pay $1100 in restitution to the victims.

Michaelynn Zopf, 23, of Galion pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, a fourth-degree felony punishable with up to 18 months in prison.

Zopf was sentenced to five years of community control. If he fails to complete community control, he faces up to 18 months in prison. He will forfeit a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun and ammunition to the proper authorities.

Jacob Morgan, 26, of Galion pleaded guilty on two different cases on Wednesday. In the first case, he pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of drugs, each fifth-degree felonies and each punishable with up to one year in prison. In the second case, he pleaded guilty to an additional three counts of possession, each fifth-degree felonies.

Morgan was sentenced to 11 months on count one of the first case and 12 months on count two of the first case. The sentences will run concurrently for a total of 12 months in prison.

In the second case, Leuthold sentenced Morgan to six months in prison on each count for a total of 18 months in prison. All tolled Morgan will serve 30 months in prison. He will also forfeit drug-related property including cell phones and $226 in cash.
