BUCYRUS―A male juvenile was involved in a standoff with law enforcement after holding a female juvenile friend at gunpoint. Bucyrus Police officers were called to a Marion Road residence Wednesday evening for a kidnapping situation.
According to Bucyrus Police Chief Dave Koepke, a male juvenile who had been on house arrest with electronic monitoring went to the home of a female juvenile friend on Marion Road.
“He held her at gunpoint but she was able to exit the home. She was taken to Bucyrus Community Hospital with injuries but not life-threatening,” said Koepke.
Koepke said the male juvenile barricaded himself in the house and threatened to harm himself. The Crawford County Special Response Unit was called to the scene to negotiate with the suspect.
Crawford County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Galion Police Department and the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol also assisted at the scene. The City of Bucyrus Street Department provided barricades to block traffic on Marion Road between Southern and Beal Avenues during the incident.
Koepke said the male surrendered at about 9:30 p.m. and was arrested and taken into custody. He is facing multiple charges including possible abduction and aggravated menacing threats. Marion Road was opened to traffic by 10 p.m.
