BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced a significant long-term construction project on U.S. Route 30 that will impact regional traffic patterns for the next 18 months.
Beginning Monday, March 2, U.S. 30 will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction at the east and west bridges over the Norfolk Southern Railroad, located just west of State Route 98. The lane restrictions are necessary for a comprehensive bridge replacement project.
Initial work will involve median crossover construction and shoulder reconstruction to prepare the site for heavy equipment. To maintain traffic flow, ODOT will utilize barrels to designate a single 11-foot lane for each direction of travel.
Because the project involves the complete replacement of the bridge structures over a major rail line, the work is expected to be extensive. The estimated completion date is currently set for August 2027.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, particularly during peak commuting hours, and to exercise caution while navigating the narrowed lanes and moving work zones.
