BUCYRUS — The parking area at the Bucyrus Youth Soccer League Field on North Lane Street in Bucyrus now is free of tree stumps thanks to A Cut Above Tree Trimming and Removal.
Clyde McCleese Jr. started the company approximately 14 years ago.
“I was working for a tree removal service and decided to start my own business,” McCleese said.
He said his first clients were near Lake Erie.
“We still do a lot of work up there,” McCleese said. “They gave me a chance and helped me get my business going.”
Along with stump removal, A Cut Above offers storm damage clean-up and expert tree trimming. Free estimates are offered and the company is fully insured.
Ryan Ely and his brother, Josh, work for McCleese.
“I think it’s great that we can help the soccer league,” Ryan Ely said. “My girls play along with so many other kids. There is a lot of interest in it.”
The league was founded in 1998 and currently has 28 teams in five leagues of play for kids from 4 to 18 years old.
Josh Ely said Bucyrus Police officers are involved with the league.
“Kevin Wert and (David) Koepke are really involved. The soccer league is great for our community,” Josh said as he and Ryan took a break from removing several large tree stumps in the gravel lot, south of the soccer field.
Wert and Koepke are members of the board that governs the Bucyrus Youth Soccer League.
McCleese said the work needed done to make the parking area safer and easier to navigate. He and his crew decided to complete the job, free of charge.
“We enjoy helping out in the community and the soccer league is such a nice sport for local kids to participate in,” McCleese said.
Ryan said it’s a great feeling to be able to give back to the community.
