LORAIN―Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio has been recognized as one of the 2023 Best Employers in Ohio. The prestigious annual list, created by Best Companies Group in partnership with Crain’s Cleveland Business and Crain’s Content Studio-Cleveland, acknowledges organizations that prioritize employee satisfaction and well-being.
Expressing her gratitude, President and CEO Julie Chase-Morefield stated, “We are honored to be named one of the best employers in Ohio. Our employees work hard to support our mission and provide food for so many in our community. We want to make sure they feel valued and appreciated every day.”
Second Harvest offers an array of attractive perks to its workforce. In addition to standard benefits such as paid holidays, vacation/personal time, and medical insurance, employees enjoy floating holidays, employee appreciation programs, paid parental leave, and volunteer/community service hours. These incentives contribute to the positive work environment fostered by the organization.
To qualify as one of the Best Employers in Ohio, participating companies underwent a rigorous two-part survey process. The initial phase involved evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics, accounting for approximately 25% of the evaluation. The subsequent stage comprised an employee survey to gauge the employee experience, which held a weightage of approximately 75% in the evaluation. The combined scores determined the top-ranking companies.
The 2023 Best Employers in Ohio rankings were recently unveiled in a special supplement produced by Crain’s Content Studio-Cleveland and published in Crain’s Cleveland Business on June 12, showcasing Second Harvest’s achievement.
