GALION — Two Crawford County men are expanding their business into the Shelby area.

Cody Bachinski and AJ Horner opened Rigid Automotive Performance and Paint at 6656 Windfall Road, near Galion, about a year ago and recently opened a second auto service business at 169 S. Gamble St., in Shelby.

“At this (Galion) location, we do mostly restoration, paint and body work,” Bachinski said. “At our Shelby location, we will offer quick and trustworthy services from brake jobs and oil changes to engine replacement and fluid exchanges at reasonable prices.”

Bachinski said he met Horner through Horner’s wife, Shayla.

“I once worked with Shayla and I told her about my business plans. She said her husband had worked as a mechanic for several years and she introduced us,” Bachinski said. “We decided to do this business venture together. I will manage the restoration business and AJ will manage the auto service portion in Shelby.”

Bachinski said he has been in the automotive business his entire life and has worked for companies like Midas.

“During the two years I spent at Midas, I learned how the business side of things work so I would be prepared to open a business and that experience is paying off,” Bachinski said.

Horner said he has been working on cars since he was a teenager.

“I have worked as a mechanic for 15 years,” Horner said.

The pair said their main priority is to provide quality service to their customers.

“We have seen the ways people are ripped off by the auto service industry,” Horner said. “We want to be known in the community as the mechanics people can trust. Our motto is, Finally, honest and trustworthy mechanics.”

Customer Collin Byer said he can attest to their motto.

“I wreck my car and they make it gorgeous again. They are always honest and upfront with me about what needs to be done and what the cost will be,” said Byer, who is a race car driver.

Horner said free vehicle inspections will be offered at the Shelby location.

“We will inspect the entire vehicle and let the customer know what needs to be done right away and what will need to happen in the future along with the costs of each so people can plan ahead and not be left with an unexpected bill when an emergency repair happens,” Horner said.

An open house at the Shelby location is Nov. 1 from 4-7 p.m.

“We want to meet the community,” Bachinski said. “It is our goal in the future to be involved in both the Crawford County and Shelby communities. We enjoy helping those in need and want to be a part of local fundraisers and events to help others.”
