NEWS RELEASE:

Lowe-Volk Park will be transformed into the scene of the Revolutionary War this weekend as the Crawford Park District offers their annual event, Living History Days.

The event will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 2, and continue throughout the weekend.

Living History Days is a yearly historical event celebrating Crawford County’s Revolutionary War connection.  The Crawford Park District partners with the local reenactment group, Colonel Crawford’s Company, to put on this event.

There will be reenactments of Col. Crawford’s capture each day concluding with a bus tour to Wyandot County for those who are interested.  New this year will include Dutch Milliners showing their sewing skills by sewing “A Gown in a Day”.  Native Ways Traditional Arts will have items for purchase and will be showcasing skills such as hide tanning and cooking.  Native women will be showing skills such as finger weaving, gourd decorating and jewelry.  Be sure not to miss the Scottish bagpiper, blacksmith, Friendship Farms Goatsmilk soap, children’s ga.m.es, flint knapping and 18th-century music and dancing.

On Saturday evening from 8 to 10 p.m., Col. Crawford’s Company will provide lantern tours of the area.  Bring the family to experience history as it was in Crawford County.

Lowe-Volk Park is located three miles north of US Route 30. For more information, contact the Crawford Park District office at 419-683-9000.
