The Lykens Township Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a pancake and sausage breakfast on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Lykens Community Hall, at the corner of State Route 19 and New Washington Road. They will serve from 8am-1pm. The menu consists of sausage, fruit, ice cream, a choice of coffee, milk, or juice, and all-you-can-eat pancakes. The cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under. Hord’s Livestock, General Mills, and Impact Communications are generous supporters of this event.

Lykens Volunteer Fire Department receives minimal public funding. The department does not have a tax levy for fire protection, and they rely on events such as this to help with the department’s operations and equipment needs. Lykens provides fire protection and basic emergency medical assist to Lykens Township and to surrounding areas through mutual aid assistance.
