Citizens of Bucyrus,
Like many of you, I received a circular in the mail concerning Interim Law Director Brian Gernert. This circular is obviously intended to discredit Mr. Gernert for the upcoming primary election for the position of Law Director for the City of Bucyrus. This appears to me to be nothing more than a smear campaign by opposition to him. It points out issues that Brian faced over the past two years. Brian has recognized, admitted, and publicly apologized for his actions related to alcoholism. Having a family member who dealt with alcoholism and managed to keep it under control with the help of God, family, and friends I understand the struggles an alcoholic has to deal with. It does not make that person any less and in fact strengthens that person when he or she strives to control the problem. Brian can, and I trust, will overcome his problem and continue to be a valuable asset to the City of Bucyrus as Law Director. I personally have worked with Brian thru the City of Bucyrus over the past year plus since he took over as Law Director in place of former Law Director Rob Ratliff and I have a great deal of respect for him and I am confident in his ability to serve our city as Law Director with integrity.
In closing, I will just say this: YE WHO IS WITHOUT SIN CAST THE FIRST STONE.
