Letter to the editor:

I have sat back and watched the Honey Creek and Apex Propaganda long enough, and I feel compelled to speak out. In my opinion, Honey Creek/Apex is intentionally misleading the public regarding issue 4. This is not about a government takeover of Property rights as they represent. In my opinion, it’s about converting our pristine farmland into an industrial site that would diminish the value of properties throughout the county substantially. It’s about preventing a few farmers from profiting at the expense of everybody else in this county. It’s about China, who produces these wind turbines, and it’s about China, who I believe is involved with Honey Creek/Apex. It’s about using our taxpayer dollars for their benefit at our expense.

Let me be clear, wind farms in Crawford County will be devastating to this county in numerous ways. Not only will it reduce property value, it will diminish the quality of life here in Crawford county. Our township and county roads will be utterly destroyed by these tractor-trailers and cranes that I believe weigh close to 200,000 pounds. There will be construction 24-7 and road blockages in multiple areas. These turbines are 65 stories tall, twice as tall as Perry’s Monument, and taller than any skyscraper in Columbus. These things will be seen from 20 miles away and will be the largest in the country. The wind farms in Van Wert are babies compared to these monsters. As I understand it, the turbine blades will span over a football field From tip to tip and weigh Close to 10 tons each. These turbines have been known to throw ice the size of volks wagon’s or sheer off and fly 1200 feet. When the wind is not blowing or blowing too fast the turbines will be shut down. The electricity produced will not go to Crawford County; at the end of the day, it may create only two jobs for Crawford county.

Also, in my opinion, the turbines are NOT green. The carbon footprint that it takes to mine, manufacture, transport, and install these turbines far outweighs the renewable energy source from wind.

I was born here and live in the country because I like country, not city living. I don’t want to be forced to live amongst hundreds of industrial buildings. So, if you’re going to vote on this topic, please take time to independently research this and not rely on what Honey Creek/Apex propaganda states. Simply put, do not trust what you hear as they are using our taxpayer dollars to line their pockets; they really have no concerns about us!

Sincerely a concerned Citizen,

I, Pat Murphy, approve of my wife’s opinion!
