BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—Chet Cobb, a 45-year-old man formerly from Galion and currently incarcerated at the Madison County Correctional Facility, made an appearance in the Crawford County Common Pleas Court on Monday in an attempt to have new charges against him dismissed.

Cobb is currently serving a 54-month sentence after pleading guilty to three counts of pandering sexually oriented materials involving a child. Recently, he was indicted on three new second-degree felony charges for pandering sexually oriented material involving a child.

In a motion to dismiss these new charges, Cobb’s attorney, Ed Bibler, argued that the state had agreed not to bring any additional charges against Cobb related to the original child porn charges once he had entered his guilty plea.

However, after Cobb’s plea, an additional cell phone was discovered that had not been previously searched by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).

Upon examination, more pictures taken by Cobb of victims and shared with his father, Mark Cobb, were found.

Mark Cobb is also serving a 54-month prison sentence on similar charges as his son.

Crawford County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean Leuthold ruled that while Cobb had been convicted of possession in the original case, the current charges relate to producing and distributing obscene material involving a child.

Judge Leuthold ruled in favor of the state, and the three new charges against Cobb will stand. If convicted, Cobb could potentially face more than twenty-four years in prison.

Crawford County Now will continue to provide coverage of this developing story.
