The world famous Iditarod sled dog race is not expanding its course, but it is coming to Lowe-Volk Park on Jan. 17. The Crawford Park District will present a special program on the Iditarod beginning at 6 p.m.
Mansfield native Matt Failor is a three-time Iditarod finisher and will race his own sled dog team again this year in Alaska’s 1,000-mile-plus sled dog journey. Last year Failor finished 15th in the Iditarod. The Park District hopes to be able to Skype with Failor during the program.
Failor is an Ohio State graduate and Eagle Scout. His parents will be at the program and have videos of the racer and his dogs. In addition, Joy Etter-Link will have a sled dog from Alaska that she adopted from Failor three years ago.
The program is appropriate for all ages.
