GALION, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A substantial law enforcement presence has descended upon a residential area in Galion as police investigate a potential shooting incident.
According to eyewitness accounts, a white male in his mid-twenties was seen running through the neighborhood near the intersection of Murray and East Walnut Streets, claiming he had been shot. A young woman was reportedly following him, attempting to calm him down.
Residents were alerted to the unfolding situation when their dogs began barking, prompting them to step outside to investigate.
The response to the scene included officers from the Galion City Police, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Within minutes, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Special Response Team (SRT) arrived to assist with the situation.
Witnesses noted that police officers aided the alleged victim as he was transported to an ambulance. Meanwhile, the SRT was seen moving toward the 900 block of East Walnut Street as they continued their search for the shooter. Law enforcement has blocked access to the alley between Smith and East Walnut Streets.
Parents were informed that their children had been taken back to school due to roadblocks in the area, and they were advised that they could pick them up there.
