The news coming out of Columbus this week concerning Crawford County was positive as far as jobs and unemployment rates go.

According to the Ohio Civilian Labor Force Estimates released by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, Crawford County had an unemployment rate of 5.2 percent in April. The figure represents an 0.8 drop from March and is 0.7 lower than last year’s April figures.

The report indicated 18,100 out of a local labor force of 19,100 are employed.

Elsewhere in the area, Wyandot County was at 3.3 percent and Seneca County came in at 4.5 percent. To the south, Marion County’s unemployment rate was 4.7 percent while Morrow County was 4.3. Richland County was at 5.1 percent and Huron County was at 6.3.
