BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—There’s a new buzz of creativity in Bucyrus coming from Kuntry Inks. The tattoo studio, owned by Gavin Feichtner, represents more than a new business — it’s the realization of a lifelong dream rooted in small-town pride and artistic passion.
“Ever since I started tattooing, I envisioned having my own place back here in Bucyrus,” Gavin said with a smile. “I never pictured myself tattooing at first. Once I picked up a machine, though, I knew it was something I wanted to build for myself.”

The name Kuntry Inks reflects Gavin’s roots. He grew up on a farm surrounded by livestock, open fields, and quiet peace. His family raised Texas Longhorns, a defining part of his childhood. When the farm eventually sold, he kept one of the Longhorn skulls — a piece of home that now hangs proudly inside the tattoo studio. “Country has always been home to me,” he said. “It’s where I’ve always found comfort. I wanted to carry that feeling into my future.”
Authenticity defines both his story and his work. While studying and playing baseball at Tiffin University, his drawing talent caught the attention of his teammates. “One night one of them said, ‘You should try tattooing,’” he recalled. “I didn’t think it was a good idea, but I ordered a kit anyway. Before long, I was tattooing my buddies’ legs.” From there, Gavin practiced on fake skin and fruit, teaching himself everything he could.
Today, his specialty is black and gray realism — lifelike designs drawn from meaningful photos. “I love taking someone’s favorite picture and turning it into art they can carry forever,” he said. “My favorite pieces are the ones with deep personal meaning. My brother’s sleeve, for example, honors our grandmothers who passed away. That one will always mean the most.”
Inside Kuntry Inks, the atmosphere feels as genuine as Gavin’s art. The space is warm, relaxed, and welcoming — more like visiting a friend than sitting in a studio chair. “I want people to feel comfortable here,” he said. “They should enjoy the process as much as the result.”

Community pride runs deep for him. Born and raised in Bucyrus, Gavin describes the support he’s received as overwhelming. “People here have been incredible,” he said. “No matter who I talk to, they’re cheering me on. That’s what I love about this town — everyone roots for each other.”
When asked what he’d tell someone considering their first tattoo, Gavin didn’t hesitate. “You only live once,” he said. “If you want to express yourself in a meaningful way, make it permanent.”
He may not have planned this path back in his baseball days, yet it’s clear he’s found where he belongs — creating art that celebrates life, memory, and roots. If Kuntry Inks had a theme song, Gavin said it would be “Where I Come From” by Alan Jackson — a perfect tribute to the hometown pride behind every piece of art he creates.
Kuntry Inks is located at 121 W. Warren Street, Bucyrus.
