Michelle Teters has her own unique way of decorating and had Katering Kountry Style all decked out with a Halloween theme on Thursday for the store’s Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. But instead wall decorations or straw scarecrows and witches hanging from the ceiling, Michelle used her own colorfully iced cookies and pastries.

Katering Kountry Style was celebrating its move to 708 North Sandusky Avenue from the long-time location on St. Rt. 100. The store actually opened in August and keeps Michelle, husband Henry, daughter Connor, son Curtis and Missy Teneyck very busy during the week.

“We already had the catering business,” Michelle said.

“We actually bought the business from my mom and decided to move to town,” Henry said.

Connor is majoring in business and explained why the family decided to move the operations to the main drag in Bucyrus.

“By moving to town we’ve expanded and we’re now open where others can come in, our customers can come in outside and see us on a daily basis as well as pick up their baked goods, order for the holidays,” Connor said. “So we’re just more accessible to the community.”

The move also allows the Teters to do more with daily lunch specials, inside and outside dining, ice cream, soft drinks and sandwiches plus its traditional catering business.

“It’s been good,” Michelle said. “We’ve been busy.”

Perhaps what makes the business so sweet, in addition to all the baked goods, is that it truly is a family business.

“Most days it’s pretty good,” Michelle said with a laugh. “We work a lot of hours but at least we’re together.”

Michelle said there may come a time when they decide to expand the current store.

Katering Kountry Style is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.
