Ohio Governor John Kasich visited Bucyrus Saturday afternoon to drum up support for November’s General Election. Kasich stopped to speak to supporters and the Republican faithful for the Get Out The Vote event at Advanced Fiber Technology in the Crossroads Industrial Park.

While speaking to supporters Kasich spoke about his track record since taking office.

“We look at a problem then we ask, ‘How do we fix it? Can we fix it all?’ Maybe not, but we do what we think is best then you go and do it,” Kasich said. “When we all came into office we were down 350,000 jobs, and now we are up a quarter of a million that weren’t working before.”

After his speech Kasich explained why he chose Bucyrus as a stop on his tour.

When you go to Bucyrus, you know you’re in Ohio,” Kasich said. “I want people to know me not just from a commercial, or a sound bite or something, but people get the chance to hear me, and that is what I enjoy.”

Kasich is facing a re-election challenge from Democrat Ed FitzGerald and Green Party candidate Anita Rios, but he wasn’t the only candidate to attend the event Saturday. Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor, State Representative Candidate Jeff McClain, Crawford County Court of Common Pleas Candidate Sean Leuthold, Crawford County Auditor Candidate Joan Wolfe, and Crawford County Commissioner Candidate Jenny Vermillion all spoke to the crowd.

“We have a state that is fiscally strong, fiscally stable. We have programs that are working better for every Ohioan,” Taylor said. “Education programs that are working better, Governor Kasich pushed to have vocational education moved down to the middle school, so now seventh and eighth grade students can learn more about the skills that they may need to work in manufacturing facility.”

After his speech in Bucyrus, Kasich made stops in Marion and Powell Saturday. Prior to the event Kasich stopped in Mt. Gilead.
