MANSFIELD — A local judge received special recognition from elected officials and local agencies for his work.
The Crawford County Commissioners honored Judge Steven Eckstein with a proclamation for Eckstein being recognized by the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Agency, Inc. as The Outstanding Elected Official.

The award recognizes the outstanding service and leadership to protect the most vulnerable population.
The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, Inc. hosted its annual meeting Thursday at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center in Mansfield.
Nearly 300 seniors, service providers, Board and Advisory Council members, staff and other dignitaries were in attendance.
Chief Executive Officer Duana Patton and President of the Board of Trustees Jeff Polzin presided over the program and meeting which highlighted accomplishments of the Area Agency on Aging for 2019.

The Area Agency on Aging also presented the following awards:
The Project Collaboration award was presented to the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio and the Seneca County Commission on Aging – Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program.
The Community Partnership award was presented to Commercial Cleaning LLC.
The Advocate of the Year award was presented to Knox County Task Force for Older Adults.
The Elected Official of the Year award was presented to Probate Judge Steven D. Eckstein.
The Award of Excellence was presented to Richland Source Gray Matters Series – A Study of how North Central Ohio cares for the aging population
Inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame was Lydia Reid.
