BUCYRUS —Crawford County Common Pleas Judge Sean Leuthold has issued a temporary order completely closing the Crawford County Courthouse each Friday for the foreseeable future.
The order keeps with Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s executive order declaring a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the stay-at-home order issued Sunday by Ohio Health Department Director Dr. Amy Acton.
Leuthold was given approval by the Crawford County Board of Commissioners and other elected officials before issuing the order. The commissioners also declared a state of emergency for Crawford County on Monday.
It was announced last week that the courthouse is closed to the general public every day but still open to employees, and court hearings are still occurring in a timely manner.
The new order closes the courthouse each Friday to everyone, including employees, but does not apply to the staff at the Crawford County Board of Elections, located in the lower level of the courthouse.
In the order, Leuthold states that any statutory deadline or limitation that occurs on a Friday will be extended until the following Monday.
The order goes into effective immediately.
The commissioners passed the following resolution.
