While weather in January is usually reserved for snow and wind, area residents had to deal with a little wet weather Thursday.
With high winds coming into the area Tuesday knocking down tree branches and power lines, it was water’s turn to make a splash into the area Thursday. With the ground water frozen from colder temperatures, Thursday morning’s rains had little option than to go over a few of the county’s waterways’ banks causing the National Weather Service to issue a flood warning at 8:38 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. for Crawford County.
At 7:41 a.m. the Crestline Police Department requested that motorists use caution on the roadways with some streets in the village experiencing some flooding.
While a few roadways did have high water signs, much of the water had subsided off the roadway by early evening.
Dispatchers at the Bucyrus Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office had no reports of major flooding.
While the flood warning has been lifted for the area, a flood advisory still remains in effect until 5:15 a.m. Friday morning.
Remember, if you see water crossing the roadway use extreme caution. Turn around and don’t drown.
