Not everyone who entered the Crawford County Common Pleas Courtroom on Wednesday left headed to prison. Some received one more opportunity.

Jonathan Marks said he attempted to continue with his counseling program, but conflicting stories led to the 44-year-old Galion man admitting to violating terms of his Intervention in Lieu of Conviction program.
Marks, who was placed on intervention in lieu of conviction just days before Leuthold took the bench, admitted that since Feb. 4, 2015, he failed to complete his court-ordered counseling program.
“I did the counseling for the first, say, six times,” Marks told the judge. He added that he missed two appointments and attempted to go back, but the counseling center was allegedly closed.
“Just never went back,” Marks said frankly.
Adult Parole Authority officer Mark Alspach said there were conflicting stories about the program from the defendant and the counseling center.
“You messed this up horribly and I’m trying to help you not mess the next step up, which is prison,” Leuthold said to Marks.
The judge ordered Marks to spend 45 days in the county jail and placed him on community control for five years.

Julia Petrella was given one chance by Leuthold last September and, even though she violated her community control, the judge was determined to give her only one more.
Petrella, 20, spent only 30 days of a 24-month prison sentence behind bars before being granted judicial release. When she appeared in court Wednesday and admitted to violating her community control by testing positive for K2, she narrowly escaped finishing that prison sentence.
“Miss Petrella, this is the last time we’re going to do this. I gave you one break, let you out. This is your second,” Leuthold warned.
The judge ordered her to enter into the CROSSWAEH community-based correctional facility.
