The Central Joint Ambulance District held a special meeting Monday night to sign a contract with its new service provider, Life Support.

The motion to approve the contract was met without opposition.

Tim Flock, director of the Crawford County Emergency Management Agency, and Sheriff Scott Kent were also invited to the meeting to address the board with any questions or concerns.

One of Flock’s biggest concerns was the ability to have contingency plans in place. Representatives from Life Support said they are still acquiring support agreements with outlying departments within and outside the county. Currently, LifeStar has agreements with Nevada, First Consolidated South, Bloomville, New Washington, Galion, Crestline, and Sycamore.

Flock requested that a map of geographical locations be made available so that his agency and the Sheriff’s Office can properly report on the various units being dispatched to each emergency.

“We just need to know on that map who’s going to cover that area,” Kent said.

Life Support will be operating five units and plans on retaining the EMS staff.

The official transition will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 30.

The next meeting of the Central Joint Ambulance District will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 17.
